August 2010 :: Goals

Our goal for August is to pay $1,600 toward our debt. Taking into account the interest that will be charged ($159) , the net will be $1,441.

So our totals at the end of August should be:

Credit Card Debt    ::  $ 24,319.22
Taxes Owed              ::  $          00.00
Personal Loans        ::  $          00.00

Total Debt*              ::  $ 24,319.22

*does not include school loans

And now for the Savings Goals – at the end of August, we aim to have:

Regular Savings  :: $     190
Family Leave       :: $ 1,288
Emergency           :: $    707

Total Savings      :: $ 2,185

According to MSN Money, our debt-free date is :: December 24, 2011. I think, however, that we can probably get this wrapped up in, say November or October of 2011.

  1. It’s interesting that the school debts are not included in the debt figures. Is that because school debt has such more reasonable terms? I notice many people will say they owe X amount of money – the student debt.

    • Hi Phil,

      The reason that I haven’t included the school debt is (1) I’m still in grad school and am not in repayment at this point, and (2) I have learned that if I try to take on too many large things at one time, I get too overwhelmed and start to avoid them all. So, in this case, I’m starting with the consumer debt first and then will take on the school debt.

      Thanks for stopping by and asking, though!
